Valuations and Appraisals

The initial step of the auction process is obtaining an evaluation of your objects and their marketability at auction.

You may send digital photos to our email info@woodburyauction.com or send actual photos to our physical address. In addition to your contact information, we ask that you include a description, dimensions, markers, artist, provenance or any other information you may have available.

To set up an in-house appointment with one of our valuation specialists please call 203-266-0323. For your convenience, we provide “walk in” valuations on a complimentary basis at our gallery every Saturday from 11am to 3pm.

Private Brokerage

Woodbury Auction can privately offer your property to our network of collectors and other key individuals and institutions. Please contact us if you wish to explore private brokerage in lieu of the auction process.

Pre-Auction Consignment

Our affiliation with Thomas Schwenke, Inc., which has a 40 year track record of successful dealing in fine antiques and decorative arts, affords us access to a wealth of knowledge and experience which enables us to offer consignors a unique “double barreled” selling platform designed to achieve the best possible sales results for selected quality items. Under appropriate agreement, we will offer qualifying auction consignors Pre-Auction Consignment Terms (a “PACT”) under which certain items are marketed in a gallery presentation with specified prices. Subsequently, after the designated PACT period has elapsed, any unsold items are transferred to our auction platform under previously agreed terms and conditions, where they are offered at public auction without reserve to effect final sale. This approach offers property owners some measure of price control during the initial consignment term, but enables closure through ultimate auction sale when time becomes critical.

This “hybrid” PACT program is particularly well suited for dealers, collectors and other owners who may wish to sell items which were purchased at prices higher than prevailing current auction market values. By entering into a PACT program with Woodbury Auction, the items can be initially offered at agreed prices with us acting as broker. The PACT also requires a price reduction format to be established and implemented over the brokerage period. Thereafter, rather than returning the items unsold, they are placed in a catalogued auction for final sale. Please note that based on our experience to date, we are not willing to take the items as broker without a standard form Woodbury Auction Consignment Agreement being executed at the inception of the PACT to provide for sale at one of our catalogued auctions.

Online Catalogs

Illustrated complimentary Online Catalogs are provided for every auction, including Opportunity Auctions. These catalogs contain our Terms and Conditions of Sale, detailed auction information, full descriptions and measurements, brief condition statements, thumbnail photographs and auction estimates for each lot. The Online Catalog is generally published on our website several weeks prior to the auction date and may be viewed on our website, and either downloaded or printed for client use.

Printed Catalogs

Printed catalogs will be published for all Catalog Auctions. These catalogs richly illustrate and promote these sales and contain our Terms and Conditions of Sale, detailed auction information, full descriptions and measurements, photographs and auction estimates for each lot. These catalogs are typically available three weeks prior to the auction date and are available for purchase on our website or by calling 203-266-0323.

Estate Liquidations

Woodbury Auction offers a wide range of Estate Liquidation services for executors, administrators and individuals charged with the responsibility of settling and/ or disposing of estate contents. Those services include:

Packing and Shipping

Consignors
Our staff will assist you in arranging for the delivery of your items to Woodbury Auction for sale. We have an experienced delivery team qualified to handle valuable and delicate items. A quote for delivery costs will be sent to you in advance, and all expenses are the responsibility of the consignor unless otherwise agreed.

Purchasers
Purchasers are responsible for the pick up, packing and/or shipping of lots won at auction. Arrangements can be made with our recommended shippers to have items delivered. Woodbury Auction requires written authorization from the purchaser in order to release property for shipment to anyone other than the actual purchaser.

Woodbury Auction’s experienced delivery team is available for packing and in-home delivery service. Contact us to receive a quote for delivery services.
